The Welcome Here Project has updated its logo!

Over the last few months, we have worked together with the LGBTQ+ community to create an updated logo that honours more members of the community by using the ‘Progress Flag’. We have also updated the design to support accessibility by increasing the font size and using the latest ACON logo.

Why the change?

Visibility is at the heart of our work with the Welcome Here Project. By choosing to proudly display Welcome Here stickers, members have a profound impact on our community’s wellbeing and sense of belonging.

LGBTQ+ people are always exploring new and exciting ways to increase visibility for every aspect of the rainbow and to highlight the voices of the most marginalised. In recent years, you might have seen a new type of rainbow flag being flown called the ‘Progress Flag’:

Progress Pride Flag

The Progress Flag was designed in 2018 by Daniel Quasar (they/ze) and has quickly become a widely recognised flag design for our community. You can find out more about the Progress Flag here.

The following additions were incorporated in the Progress Flag:

  • White, pink and blue stripes – representing the trans community, as seen in the trans flag.
  • Black and brown stripes – representing LGBTQ+ people of colour and the importance of continuing anti-racism work in the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Black stripe – also representing those lost during the AIDS crisis and bringing awareness to stigma surrounding people living with HIV.

While the Welcome Here Project has always represented the entire LGBTQ+ community, we felt this was an important step towards a flag that represents more members of our community and helps more people feel safe and included at Welcome Here member sites.

What this means for new members and new sites

From 2nd September 2026, our previous logo will be phased out of distribution. All new members, and existing members adding new sites after this date, will receive the new Welcome Here logo.

We are also updating our other collateral to the new design. New members and sites may receive badges, magnets and other items featuring the previous design after 2nd September 2026; however, stickers will be the new version.

What this means for existing members

Existing members do not need to update their sticker if they do not want to; all historical Welcome Here designs remain valid.
